About Wayland
map
Located to the west of Boston, Wayland was originally settled as part of the Sudbury Plantation in 1673. Although incorporated during the year 1780 it was not founded as a town until 1835.

The town was named after a woman by the name of Francis Wayland who started the first free public library in Massachusetts in the year 1848, and was also a preacher and president of Brown University.

The town attractions include the Ground Herd House as well as the Depot which is a small shop in an old train station. Wayland also includes one of the best school systems in the state of Massachusetts.

"Black Coffee"
Agatha Christie's Black Coffee -- An Hercule Poirot Mystery

Agatha Christie's master detective Hercule Poirot appears in 33 novels, a slew of movies (where he's been played by Peter Ustinov, Tony Randall and Albert Finney), tons more TV (where David Suchet and Alfred Molina had the honors) but only one play. Now you can see the dapper Belgian and his "little gray cells" on stage in Christie's thriller Black Coffee. In this suspenseful mystery, the charming and ingenious Poirot is summoned by England's most prominent physicist, Sir Claud Amory, who fears that someone in his household is attempting to steal his latest discovery, a formula critical to England's defense. Poirot and Captain Hastings rush to get there, but upon arrival they find that Amory's been murdered, his formula's missing and anyone in his country house -- full of visiting relatives and friends -- could have been responsible. The Vokes Players bring Poirot to life at Wayland's Vokes Theatre.
